My paternal grandmother was a big Betty Boop fan and I watched many of the cartoons she had on VHS when I was a kid. In high school I painted this piece as a present for her. Later after she passed away the painting was returned to me. I held onto it for a number of years but wanted to pass it off as a tribute to my deceased grandma. This piece will always have a special place in my heart.
During my time watching Betty Boop as a kid among other cartoons I picked up a phase of cartoon drawing. During that time I sketched or traced a ton of favorite characters and Betty Boop made her way in. I then drew multiple versions of her onto this canvas board as a collage with her name. Finally I painted the last layers onto the painting and framed it.
The final canvas board was sealed in a frame without glass. The piece is mounted so as to be hung on the wall in any room of the house.
The buyer was a big Betty Boop admirer and favored my piece on Etsy months before she contacted me to make the purchase. I was happy to send it home to a fellow fan as my Grandma would have appreciated.
