This piece was inspired by frustrations over climate change and political dialogue discrediting the validity of these changing times. Painting is therapuetic and this was an opportunity to replicate a somewhat popular iconography communicating client change visually.
I covered the pre-stretched canvas in gesso and a base layer of lime green paint before starting on the outline. Once the base green had dried I copied over a sketch tracing of the plant hand icon onto the canvas with pencil. I then added several layers of white to the silhouette icon to create the white on green negative space effect.
After some brainstorming and sketching I mapped out this plant hand icon to communicate the climate change message I had in mind. The piece is a graphic response and a visual protest to political discredits.
A lucky buyer will own the first original canvas version of this piece which will be turned into a print that will be replicated across mediums. The original is one-of-a-kind and will be an awesome addition to any sustainable friendly home and space.
