Along with the colorful featured mask (I really need to improve my piece naming skills) I also stumbled on this long faced wooden mask at yet another thrift store. I kept this one along with the other as decorations for some time in college before I painted over both of them. Yet again I covered the base mask with decorative paint and patterns to highlight the wooden features and accent the details vibrantly.
Once I decided to paint my own rendition of the pattern theme over the existing base of the wooden mask I sketched some ideas on color and application. Deciding on patterns and theme with pencil and paper I decided how I would design it before I painted the base. Then I applied a decorative color theme over the existing sculpture. Using acrylic and tulip puff paint I distinguished the design as my own.
The final mask was a vibrant array of colors pleasantly combined to accentuate the original mask features. The highlights and patterns create an aesthetically pleasing combination of contrast. The colors work harmoniously to accent the wooden features while maintaining the original form.
Some lucky admirer would be lucky to have this decoration for their home, office or studio. The vibrant colors stand out in a variety of locations and guarantee to catch your visitors eye. The mask can hang or lay flat on a table or shelf.
