A colleague of mine was in the initial partnership and startup phase of RAD Roller. They were attempting to go to market well ahead of their products being completed, but there were some challenges presented such as not having a prototype in hand to organize a proper product shoot. They needed a design fast so they could start manufacturing in their oversees Chinese production facility ahead of their product launch deadlines. This rush to market strategy created an opportunity to quickly drum up some illustrative designs for collateral and product packaging so they could quickly go-to-market with their new brand campaign. During this timeframe I also designed some trade show booth assets for them to attend a promotional convention to network and advertise their new products.
I collaborated with stakeholders and the owners along with other creatives and the production facility to design several environmental designs to be used at the upcoming convention. We applied an already established brand look and feel to the designs to seamlessly tie together the booth environment and leverage large format brand display. We cohesively branded a family of trade show assets including panel pull ups, a large table drape and a vinyl multi-panel backdrop for the booth. I then connected with the Chinese print vendor to execute the final production and assembly of the trade show setup.
To solve the problem of not having adequate professional product photography and lacking other creative resources and budget during this initial startup phase we leveraged a straight forward design already tied to existing branding. There would be several iterative phases to re-design the company branding and product packaging later on, so having a simple professional look in this interim phase was critical. The family of trade show booth assets were clean and simple to tie together the booth space and market the product launch and brand awareness early in their journey.
The early brand awareness was a great launch pad for RAD Roller initially before they continued to network and grow their brand and product suite. The convention and awareness they were able to generate was a great stepping stone into a longer journey and overall success of the company. We later revisited the designs to adapt several generations of evolved branding and product packaging as they continued to evolve into what they are today.
