Given the extended period in which we were under lockdown and then the time following that with COVID-19 there was ample time to create. I leveraged the opportunity to create these fun greeting cards to send to family and friends during the global pandemic. Our friends love minions and we always get a chuckle from any minion memes so I decided to create a card with a minion character and adapt COVID into humor over the holidays while we weren't able to see one another.
I looked up some of my favorite minion characters and illustrations while researching and brainstorming the design. I chose and then created a vector illustration based on that minion and developed my own graphic. I then designed the card and messaging using the minion illustration. It was a fun art spin during rough COVID times meant to bring some love and light to those close to us.
The final cards were a hit with our friends, but not so much the parents as they didn't get the sense of humor. Regardless, they were appreciative of the note and we were glad we sent them. A little light humor in light of a dark situation globally was the intention.
The humor and minion itself was well received by our friends. We were happy to spread some cheer and smiles during the dark holiday season given the pandemic. And the lasting illustration will be fun to use on merchandise and other designs in years to come.
